The Deeper the Darkness, the Brighter the Light

Dear Agents of Evolution,

Hello to all the Agents of Evolution out there holding a space for Light in our world.

Today is Diwali in India, a holiday representing a triumph of Light over darkness. May it be so!

May all those whose lives have been turned upside down by the hurricanes in the Asheville and Tampa areas witness the land heal, and find new rhythms as they tend, grieve, and rebuild. (Some in those areas still do not even have potable water, a month later). May all those affected by war feel the care and concern coming from us, their brothers and sisters in other parts of the world, in the form of actions, resources, and prayers. May all whose hearts are suffering right now feel peace.

And may you find joy amidst any pain in your life, laughter amidst any suffering that visits you, and dignity amidst any misfortune.

Happy Diwali and a blessed New Moon to you...

November Astro Weather Highlights

Here in the U.S. the presidential election is only a few days away. With the United States experiencing its "Pluto Return," the country's shadow is in full view, and we are given another go at complete transformation. A death to old ways holds the promise of rebirth.

Our skies were graced by two comets this year: Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks and Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan–ATLAS). The astronomer/astrologers of old maintained that comets heralded a new age, and indicated new types of world leadership, strife within countries, and generally, massive change. The second comet having peaked in visibility in October, so close to the U.S. presidential election, portends a period of transformation in the U.S.

November 1

New Moon in Swati

Airwaves on overload, Wind storms

Right at the beginning of the month, this New Moon sets the tone for the whole 28-day lunation – basically the whole month. This New Moon will highlight collaboration, confidence, and great expansion through setting out on and committing to a course of learning. The challenges of this New Moon are, a whirlwind of information & messages, rage, fear, and violence. The natural world is likely to mirror what is happening for humans through wind storms, and jumpy electrical systems.

I will offer an expanded summary of this New Moon on Instagram.

November 3

Mars opposite Pluto

By any means necessary

From feelings of powerlessness, fear. Fear sometimes produces rage. When rage explodes often destruction is left in its wake. There is no way to sugar coat this transit. Powerlessness, fear, rage, violence, is what's on the table right now.

An Agent of Evolution uses the intensity of this transit to transform anger by working with energy. Working with energy means being mindful, being aware of how your energy moves, being aware of your emotions, bringing emotions out of hiding and into the light, and addressing underlying fears by noticing the unmet need, and seeing what can be done to satisfy that need.

You can look to Feb. 14, 2024 to reflect on what was happening when Mars and Pluto were conjunct. Did you let go of anything around that time? Were you confronted by any circumstances beyond your control? Were you experiencing anger or frustration about anything in particular? This transit on Nov. 3 is the next chapter in that story.

We still have two more of these Mars opposite Pluto transits occurring over the next six months – one on Jan. 3 and one on Apr. 27. These drag out the story even further.

Consider reading or watching some of Thich Nhat Hanh's teachings on anger. Here is a short set of excerpts from a talk he once gave to get you started.

November 3

Venus opposite Jupiter

Confidence in Leadership; Joyous Collaboration

This blessed transit takes place simultaneously with Mars opposite Pluto. Mars opposite Pluto can't sully Venus and Jupiter. But neither can Venus and Jupiter ameliorate the effects of Mars and Pluto These two energy movements are happening side by side.

Venus opposite Jupiter teaches us how to cooperate to achieve certain ends. It teaches us the value of showering one another with kindness and consideration. And because Venus is in Jyestha, a lunar sign associated with elders, leaders, and leadership, this transit is highlighting the value of women in leadership positions, and collaborations between women.

We're a little more prone to indulging in excess under these energies – excess shopping, eating, drinking, boasting, etc.

You can look to May 23 to see what was happening when Venus and Jupiter were conjunct. What alliances or collaborations were forming? What joys or creativities or social scenes were blossoming? This is the next chapter in that story.

November 9

Venus square Neptune

I can still dream

Every human alive has dreams inside them – magical places of innocence and fantasy where life is nothing but kind and beautiful. It's a good thing to tap into that every once in awhile through your imagination. Especially when things aren't going your way, connecting with that enchantment performs miracles that keep your light alive.

November 12

Mercury square Saturn

Challenges to leadership

Mercury is in the lunar sign called Jyeshtha during this transit, receiving a square from Saturn who is in the lunar sign of Shatabhisha. The credibility of the election will be thrown into question. Leadership will be limited, curtailed, challenged. This begins a period of sorting through "facts." Delays in election officials certifying the election.

November 15

Saturn turns direct

Social diagnosis

Saturn turned retrograde on June 29, 2024. Since then we've been in a review process around healing. We might have been looking at personal ailments, or at social ills, and what it will take to heal. Methods to heal the physical human body famously have side effects. Social healings do as well.

November 15

Full Moon in Krittika

"This girl is on fire..."

Moon becomes full in a lunar sign associated with Agni, or the element of Fire, deified. This is also the place in the sky where Skanda, the god of war, was collectively wombed and birthed.

I will offer an expanded summary of this Full Moon on Instagram.

November 16

Sun opposite Uranus

Unexpected changes

The need for freedom causes relationships that were already unstable to crack.

Uranus has a good idea he wants to introduce but his methods are questionable.

Highly unusual alliances form.

November 17

Mercury opposite Jupiter/ Moon

The popularity of the leader

The popular leaders in the world hold their audience in rapt attention on this day. Wonderful words are spoken. Words full of promise and hope.

November 25 - December 15, 2024

Mercury Retrograde

Revisiting Our Loyalties

With Mercury turning retrograde three days before Thanksgiving on Nov. 28, allot extra time that week for travel as things may not go according to plan.

Mercury moves backward through both the signs of Jyeshtha and Anuradha, so we retrace our steps in the domains of leadership, promises, and loyalties.

More on this transit in the December forecast.

December 6, 2024 - February 23, 2025

Mars Retrograde

This Mars retrograde period could be a long, clumsy tumble through terrain we thought we already covered. We'll be reviewing our actions, and in some cases, redoing what we thought was already done.

More on this transit in the December forecast.
